Healthcare Hero of the Month: Robin Martin
41 Years of Dedication—and Still Discovering New Passions
“I don't even remember what drew me to nursing,” Robin Martin admits with a smile. “But it has definitely been the colleagues who became lifelong friends, the infinite learning and skill development, and the patients I’ve had the privilege to meet that have kept me in the profession.”
After 41 years in nursing, Robin could be slowing down. Instead, she’s ramping up—with a renewed sense of purpose, adventure, and curiosity fueled by her recent journey into travel nursing.
“It’s travel nursing that has infused a new energy into my professional and personal life,” she shares. “I’ve had awesome professional opportunities with contracts from east to west over the past four years that I’ve been with New Horizons. But most recently, I’ve unearthed a passion for rural ER nursing.”
Robin’s commitment to care is matched by her zest for life. She’s not only serving communities across the country—she’s making the most of every landscape along the way.

“I’ve always pursued an active lifestyle, so hand in hand with the professional opportunities travel nursing has presented me, I’ve skied the Rockies, kayaked Saskatchewan’s beautiful waterways, snowmobiled under the Northern Lights, dog sledded, camped, hiked, and fished,” she says. “And so, as long as these opportunities continue to present themselves, my four grown kids, their partners, and my grandson will have to watch Nan knock more experiences off her bucket list before the sun sets on this extraordinary career I am so grateful to be experiencing.”
She ends her reflection with a heartfelt shoutout:
“I highly recommend Chase and his crew to anyone considering contract nursing. They are approachable, personable, responsive, and really care about their employees—both professionally and personally!”
Thank you, Robin, for the light you bring to every patient, every team, and every part of the country you serve. We’re proud to call you our Healthcare Hero of the Month.
